RURAL NORTH-EAST MONMOUTHSHIRE
The Rural Futures programme will begin by working in the north-east corner of Monmouthshire in the village of Grosmont, the main settlement in this very rural corner of the county and then fan out into the surrounding sparsely populated villages.
Grosmont is a beautiful village situated near to the English border. It has a famous castle, which, together with Skenfrith castle and White castle, forms part of the popular Three Castles walk, and benefits from a post office, shop and a pub. The nearest towns are Monmouth and Abergavenny which lie more than 9 miles away to the south west and south east respectively.
Grosmont is in Crucorney ward but close to the boundary of Llantilio Crossenny ward which will also be a focus for the programme.
